As of this writing, Volusia County is growing like a spring weed! We’re having a little fun there, but it’s true this part of the state is a great place to be right now. Communities such as the ones ICI Homes builds are sprouting to meet new residents’ needs. Companies are expanding and building new complexes. New industries are relocating here. Jobs are increasing and so are the services, dining, retail and entertainment outlets required to keep pace.

All of which means if you’re seeking that new custom Florida home, Volusia County should be on your radar. The Daytona Beach area is a perfect jump-off point to anywhere in the region, plus it’s the “World’s Most Famous Beach.”

There’s no doubt now is a great time to seek a new custom Florida home in Volusia County.

Housing starts are a good indicator

Recent residential-construction statistics prove the point. For the first three quarters of 2019, Volusia County’s new-home permits were 3.5 percent higher than the first three quarters of 2018. Construction in Woodhaven at Port Orange, one of ICI Homes' Volusia County communitiesJune 2019 was particularly noteworthy. A total of 295 residential building permits went out that month, the most in one month since March 2006.

Numbers don’t lie. Builders expect that trend to continue in 2020 and likely beyond. Why?

Another set of crucial statistics. In 2019, unemployment took a plunge in Volusia County, dropping to 3.0 percent in November. That’s the lowest since April 2006. Plus, 2019 saw more growth in sales in Flagler and Volusia county communities than we’ve seen in the past decade.

An exciting, stable building boom

More jobs mean more new residents looking for new custom Florida homes. If you’ve visited the Daytona Beach area lately, you know construction is almost everywhere. Cranes hover above new office towers. New residential communities come online as we speak. Bulldozers clear sites for more of the above.

Tomoka Town Center, a one-stop-shopping retail, dining and entertainment complex at I-95’s LPGA Boulevard exit in Daytona Beach, is the most obvious example. It features a Tanger Outlets Mall and is only four miles from ICI Homes’ master-planned community of Mosaic, also off LPGA.

New restaurants, shops and popular retailers open here every few months — growth that’s being echoed throughout Volusia County.
