Hit The Trails at Bexley

Searching for a new custom Florida home in the Tampa area? An active, outdoorsy lifestyle to go with it? We at ICI Homes have the perfect place. Visit us at Bexley, a new community approximately 20 miles north of Tampa in Pasco County. We’re proud to be one of six builders at Bexley and we’re here to tell you why you should consider its invigorating lineup of amenities.

Meet the Bexley Community

Bexley is a 1,200-acre development that opened in November 2016. It’s located in Land O’Lakes, among Hit The Trails at Bexleypreserved Pasco County wilderness, yet not “too far out.” The convenient Suncoast Parkway serves as its western boundary. East-west artery State Road 54 serves as its southern boundary.

Jump on the Parkway for easy, direct access south to Tampa’s cultural and sporting events, major employers and international airports. Drive west for Gulf of Mexico beaches. Back home at Bexley, you’ll find peaceful wetlands, coastal forests, meadows and even a few meandering hills.

Bexley Wants You to Get Moving

Aside from the latest energy-efficient, thoughtfully designed floor plans — all amid Pasco County’s natural beauty — Bexley is designed to get you and your household outdoors. More than 10 miles of fitness trails crisscross the community and will connect to the Suncoast Trail, a 42-mile, regional fitness landmark that spans three Tampa Bay area counties.

That’s not all. There are three Bexley parks that incorporate a dog park, soccer field and a bicycle pump park. Plus, pockets of fun green space for pitching blankets or tossing a football or baseball. Residents also enjoy the Bexley Club, community headquarters for a cafe, bike shop, fitness center, events on the lawn, two large swimming pools and a game room.

Follow Your Own Trail at Bexley

With so much beautiful, preserved acreage at your front and back doors, grabbing your workout shoes, tuning up your bicycle or gathering the gang for a stroll will become part of your life. Bexley’s fitness and recreational trails not only take you through the entire community, they’ll take you to shopping and services along SR 54, and down the road a bit to catch the Suncoast Trail. Some trails are paved. Some are unpaved, particularly through more natural areas where a softer surface is less intrusive — and easier on the joints!

Utah-based Avid Trails, nationally known for its custom trail systems, is designing the Bexley trails. Per Avid’s website, the company specializes in outdoor trails that can be used and enjoyed by folks of all fitness levels. Awesome, right? Because most of us aren’t Olympic gold medalists nor do we want to be.

The first phase of Bexley’s Avid Trails system — the company’s first in Florida — are those 10-plus miles that connect to the Suncoast Trail. They range from 18-to-24-inch single-track trails for mountain biking fun, to as wide as six feet for ease and multiple uses. Think walking, hiking and jogging paths. Bexley’s trails weave around considerable scenery — those preserved wetlands, meadows and other lovely, open vistas. The best part? You can jump on the Avid Trail system from anywhere in the community.

Also at residents’ disposal: a 14-foot-wide, multi-use trail with hard and soft surfaces that runs east-west along Tower Road.

Unbeatable Access to The Suncoast Trail

If you love to be active outdoors or want to be, there’s no better opportunity than the Suncoast Trail. It begins south of Bexley in Hillsborough County, traverses north through Pasco County and ends in Hernando County. A whooping 21.6 of its 42 miles cuts through Pasco. Since it parallels the Suncoast Parkway, you always have an idea where you are, though the Trail is extremely well-marked.

One of four Pasco County trailheads for the Suncoast Trail is on Bexley’s doorstep, off SR 54 at the Suncoast Parkway. Since the Trail is part of the state of Florida’s greenway and trail system, it’s maintained by the Hillsborough, Pasco and Hernando Counties’ parks and recreation departments. You’ll find a detailed map of what’s where on the trail, here (http://www.pascocountyfl.net/DocumentCenter/Home/View/587).

Convenient benches, access-point parking lots, restrooms, rain shelters, water supplies and other facilities make enjoying the Suncoast Trail a breeze. In Pasco County, users can check out two wildlife viewing areas.

Get Your Sweat On, Trailside!

Back home at Bexley, your trail system includes Avid Exercise Stations, which are great for overall cardiovascular workouts. Each station challenges you with specific activities. You’ll find bars for pull-ups, stretchy resistance bands, hurdles, agility ladders, box jumps and different elevations of concrete cylinders for pushups. And a hammock garden — yes! — for simply flopping for a while.

Calling All Cyclists

Bexley’s active recreational amenities include two bike parks by Avid Trails. Expect advanced and beginner pump tracks, skills loops and practice areas. BMX-ers, mountain bikers and cyclists of all skill levels are welcome. So are skateboards and scooters.

The first Avid Bike Park at Bexley is the first Avid Trails Bike Park in the United States and the first pump track in Pasco County. It’s made of asphalt, which makes it useable by skateboards and scooters. If you don’t know, a pump track is a tightly-constructed trail with banked bumps, loops and quick turns that tests riders’ speed and skill without pedaling, or “pumping.” Riders use the forward momentum of one track feature to surge toward, and conquer the next one.
