End of Summer Florida Staycation Ideas

summer Believe it or not, we are already on the other side of the summer!

If you haven’t taken a summer trip yet, you might be starting to think that you are running out of options.

But there are always great staycation options to consider that are right in your back yard. No need to pack anything, and you can still sleep in your own bed!

Here are a few staycation ideas for each of the ICI Homes customers can enjoy in the various markets in which we build:

Daytona Beach Area

Besides the obvious appeal of The World’s Most Famous Beach, one of the best places for residents of our 7 Daytona Beach area communities to enjoy some summer fun isDaytona Lagoon.

This family fun center is first and foremost a water park that features some incredible water slides like Blackbeard’s Revenge, Panama Jacks’, Adventure Mountain, and Kraken’s Conquest. There is also the Pelican’s Drift Lazy River for those who move at a more leisurely pace.

Even if water isn’t your thing, there is still plenty to do at Daytona Lagoon. Dry attractions like Go-Kart Racing, Miniature Golf, Laser Tag, and a giant Rock Wall all make this a great staycation option.

While it might seem obvious, if you’ve never experienced the Daytona International Speedway, it is a must-see staycation idea. They offer guided tours that vary from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Those tours will allow you to stand in victory lane, see the famous finish line, and even take pictures from the skyboxes high above the track.

Gainesville Area

One of the most popular staycation ideas for residents of our Weschester community in the Gainesville area is a trip to the Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum of Natural History.

This unbelievable experience will allow you to see hundreds of butterflies and birds from all over the world living together in a tropical paradise.

Located right next to the Florida Museum of Natural History is the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art. This museum displays some awe-inspiring photography as well as other art pieces, and there are always different traveling exhibits on display.

Depending on how much time you spend at each of these attractions, you might be able to fit both into the same staycation!

Jacksonville Area

For residents in one of our Jacksonville area communities who love to shop, spending a day at Beaches Town Center near Jacksonville might be the ultimate staycation.

This great complex is only two blocks from the beach and is filled with unique shops selling art, clothing, souvenirs, and jewelry. There are also events like live music and art displays that occur here on a regular basis.

Stand Up Paddleboarding has become more and more popular all over Florida, and the beaches near Jacksonville are a great place to spend a day learning how this fun and easy sport works.

If you’ve ever wanted to try Stand Up Paddleboarding, or any other ocean watersport, there are many locations in Jacksonville where you can spend a day learning the ropes without having to actually purchase the equipment.

Orlando Area

Obviously, one of the biggest appeals of living in one of our Orlando area communities is that a staycation trip to all of the theme parks becomes possible.

But golf enthusiasts living near Orlando may also be interested in day trips to play the four championship level golf courses located at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Each of these courses are known for their beauty, as well as the incredible attention to detail that has made Walt Disney World famous.

Tee times for day guests can be booked through the Walt Disney World Golf website.

If you are looking for a staycation that will allow you to pamper yourself, the Top of the Palms Spa at the Sheraton Resort in Lake Buena Vista is a fantastic location for that! The spa sits high up in the resort and overlooks the 27 Palms Pool Club that is part of the resort.

There are many great treatments available here and the view alone will put you in a more relaxed state of mind.

Tampa Area

With summer beginning to wind down, if you live in one of our Tampa area communitiesand haven’t been to a Tampa Bay Rays game yet this year, you might want to add that to your list of staycation options.

Nothing says summer quite like a baseball game with nachos and a hot dog! With tickets as low as $15 and tons of great promotion and giveaways, a day-trip to see the Rays play can be a very reasonably priced experience.

You’ve of course got the option of Busch Gardens, but another popular staycation idea in the Tampa area is heading out on Captain Memo’s Original Pirate Cruise. Climb aboard “The Pirate’s Ransom” which looks and feels every bit like a real pirate ship!

Captain Memo’s has daytime cruises available for groups with children and evening champagne cruises for adults.

Of course, a great staycation doesn’t have to involve spending any money at all. All of the ICI Homes communities are located near multiple state parks that can provide everything you need to get away and relax for a day absolutely free of charge.

Where will you be heading on your next staycation?
