Here’s the article that appeared Saturday in the Times Union:
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2014) –A new master-planned community of 2,400 homes one of Duval County’s largest undeveloped areas will offer future residents a unique combination of in-town living, resort lifestyle, and exceptionally designed Mediterranean-style custom homes.
Located halfway between the beaches and Downtown Jacksonville, Tamaya will span 780 acres off Beach Boulevard between Kernan and Hodges and include a spectacular clubhouse, a rich mix of amenities, resident concierge service and an adjacent town center with more than 500,000 square feet of commercial/retail space.
“This will be a place truly distinctive to Jacksonville – where people can live, relax, work and enjoy life in a setting unlike any other in northeast Florida,” said Mori Hosseini, principal of ICI Homes of Tamaya, the managing partner for the project, where construction began in December and will include $4-million model home park to open in the spring.
“Jacksonville hasn’t seen a community of this scope and size in a very long time, especially in an ideal location midway between the city and the sea,” Hosseini said. “It’s an exciting opportunity for those wishing to be among the first to purchase a new home in a type of community that everyone’s been waiting for.”
Tamaya will feature a grand entrance, a lofty two-story gatehouse, decorative privacy walls, abundant green space, meandering walking paths, crystal lakes and a $10 million, 10,000-square-foot clubhouse – the crown jewel of the entire community.
Italy’s Tuscan region served as the design inspiration for Tamaya, where splashing fountains will intermingle with cobble pavers, and colorful tile roofs, graceful arches and lush landscape will come together to create Old World elegance.
A vision center will open in mid-March to welcome Tamaya’s first visitors and a$4-million model park, dubbed the “Strada di Sogni,”or Road of Dreams, will open later in the spring. Four leading Jacksonville-area design firms have been tapped to bring life to eight distinctive models and furnish them to appeal to all types of prospective homeowners.
The northeast division of nationally-ranked Top 100 Home Builder, ICI Homes, headed by division president Don Wilford, was selected as the builder for Bella Nina, the first phase of Tamaya. Construction began in December on the first 169-home enclave and it is now taking shape.
“We’ll be offering a lineup of 16 Mediterranean-style homes, from 1,900 to 3,500 square feet, and priced from $300,000s to the $600,000s,” Wilford said.
