Two Florida locations — Daytona Beach and Tampa — are among the top 10 in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Retire in the U.S. in 2022-2023, and ICI Homes is active in both locales. Florida’s appearance in a recent compilation of top United States retirement destinations is a reminder of the Sunshine State’s perpetual appeal to folks ready to enjoy their best years.
In fact, we’re Florida’s largest residential builder AND developer, meaning we develop our own master-planned communities and function as preferred builders in others. We’ve been doing this for more than four decades, so we know what Floridians in all life stages seek, especially retirees seeking to buy or build a new custom Florida home.
Here’s more on the latest U.S. News & World Report retirement-destination roundup.
The 2022-2023 criteria for the best places to retire
Research staff at U.S. News & World Report poured over data unique to each of the country’s 150 largest metro areas, sourcing information from the U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Labor, Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. News & World Report’s own data banks.
Staffers examined it all through the prism of how each location jived with retirees’ needs and preferences. Among the criteria were quality health care, residential housing costs, residents’ satisfaction and taxes. Each metro area was then assigned a ranking.
Four cities in Florida earned top-10 rankings, including two locales where ICI Homes builds. The Tampa Bay area ranked No. 4 and the Daytona Beach area ranked No. 7.
ICI Homes in Tampa
The Tampa Bay area’s No. 4 ranking in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Retire in the U.S. in 2022-2023 encompasses three cities
— Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater — and their suburbs.
Gulf of Mexico beaches, professional and collegiate sports teams, thriving dining and arts and cultural scenes all combine with attractions like Busch Gardens to provide plenty to do and experience.
In the Tampa area, you’ll find ICI Homes building in Bexley and Connerton in Land O’Lakes, Lake Jovita in Dade City, and Persimmon Park in Wesley Chapel.
ICI Homes in Daytona Beach
Similar to Tampa Bay, the Daytona Beach area’s No. 7 ranking in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Retire in the U.S. in 2022-2023 reflects its coastal lifestyle, this time on the Atlantic coast. The “World’s Most Famous Beach” is legendary. Attractions like Daytona International Speedway, business and industry growth, and three universities also offer appeal. Daytona Beach was also chosen as one of the best places to retire in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2021-22 list, so you know it’s perennially loved by potential retirees.
ICI Homes’ master-planned communities here include Mosaic in Daytona Beach, Woodhaven and Brown’s Landing in Port Orange, Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club in Ormond Beach, and Verona in Ormond by the Sea. We’re also building at the Conservatory in Palm Coast.
