4 Reasons Winter is Always Better in Florida

Here in Florida, many of us quiver at the thought of enduring the cold weather of our fellow northerners. 4 Reasons Winter is Always Better in Florida - Margaritas To clarify, we consider every state except Hawaii a northern state and we’re not afraid to brag about our year-round warm weather.

Travel + Leisure recently listed Orlando as the 4th best city in the US to visit during winter and yes, as much as we hate to admit it, we do technically have a winter season.

Here are four reasons why we think winter is always better in Florida.

You Can Still Go To The Beach
Just an hour away from Orlando, you’ll find the World’s Most Famous Beach aka Daytona Beach. Just another 30 minute drive north or south, will take you to Flagler Beach and New Smyrna Beach respectively. While the water may still be a little chilly to enjoy, it’s not uncommon to see couples and families strolling down our many beaches and beach parks. It may depend on the wind, but in most cases you can get by with wearing a light jacket. It’s also rather easy to spot the northerners, as they’re usually the only ones in the water!

The Weather is Perfect To Visit Theme Parks
While Florida offers beautiful weather, the heat can be too much for some people. Walking around the large crowds at parks like Magic Kingdom and Islands of Adventure, can be hard to do during the summer days but in the winter….

Tourist Tip: The weeks right before and after Christmas are usually the most busy. Mid-February is a great time to visit our local theme parks as the vacation season slows down.

Flip-Flops Can Still Be a Part Of Your Daily Attire
While the UGG craze hit Florida pretty hard a few years ago, this type of gear is not required in Florida. In other words, frostbite probably won’t occur if you’re a flip-flop wearing kind of person.

No Snow Shoveling
No snow…no worries. Need we really say more? While we might not have snow, Orlando does feature “cold” attractions for both families and adults. For families, you can experience the annual ICE attraction at the Gaylord Palms Resort or watch one of Disney on Ice’s many shows featuring some of your favorite Disney characters.

For adults, the Ice Bar on International Drive is a great place to grab a drink and remind yourself why you relocated to Florida in the first place!
