Top-shelf amenities
Building at Oasis at Hammock Dunes gives you the opportunity to purchase a Hammock Dunes Club membership. This includes two championship-worthy golf courses (a Tom Fazio-designed Links Course and a Rees Jones-designed Creek Course), Har-Tru tennis, pickleball and bocce ball courts, three oceanfront croquet lawns, two stylish clubhouses with dining and social scenes, and a busy community calendar.
Oasis at Hammock Dunes residents must purchase a membership to enjoy these amenities, but membership isn’t necessary to live here and enjoy the community.
Municipal and state parks
Away from Oasis, numerous parks and preserves are first-rate, day-trip destinations.
Princess Place Preserve and Washington Oaks Gardens State Park headline the list, but this stretch of Florida’s Atlantic coastline is filled with public-access lands that highlight its history and natural resources.
Princess Place Preserve is a 1,500-acre Flagler County preserve with storybook history (google it). Along with outdoor pursuits, it contains the late-19th-century home of its original owner (also the county’s oldest structure), and Florida’s first in-ground swimming pool.
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is a 425-acre site along A1A, Florida’s Atlantic coast highway, and the Matanzas River. It contains beautiful formal gardens, untouched barrier island tracts and offers trails, outdoor activities and spectacular rock formations along its beaches.
The beach
It’s never far when you live at Oasis at Hammock Dunes. See Washington Oak Gardens State Park above for one gorgeous option.
Another is Jungle Hut Park, a Flagler County park only minutes north of Oasis at Hammock Dunes. It’s a two-acre beachfront park with parking, boardwalk access, restrooms and prime opportunities for birding enthusiasts.
Its reddish sand is beautiful, but note rocks in the water and strong currents. Jungle Hut is perfect for a lounge chair and snoozing to the sounds of surf.
Down the road
The Marineland Dolphin Experience is located only two miles north of Washington Oaks Gardens State Park along A1A. One of Florida’s historic attractions, it comes with ocean views and interactions with resident dolphins.
Via nearby Interstate 75, Oasis at Hammock Dunes residents can easily road-trip north to historic St. Augustine and metro Jacksonville with its sports, arts and cultural events. Head south to Interstate 4, which takes you to Orlando and its attractions.
