Moving into your new home is an exciting milestone even with the work required to get it done. Pat yourself on the back for this big accomplishment whether you moved from across town or across a continent!
After you rest up and get your bearings, we at ICI Homes want to help you get a good head start in your new home.
Do your warranty diligence
We spell it out on our website with an easy five-step checklist for new ICI Homes owners, so we won’t repeat it all here. But registering the warranties for the equipment and systems in your new custom Florida home is very important, even though doing a bit more paperwork may not be high on your list after successfully closing on and moving into your home.
We promise the effort is worth it and will give you peace of mind. Your ICI Homes warranty team can help you with guidance and questions. They’re your source for any tasks or service needs that might crop up, and will help make sure any items from your pre-closing punch list that need to be taken of, get taken care of.
Commit to a regular cleaning schedule
It’s so much easier to knock out those basic chores for a few hours every week than to allow dirt, laundry and dust to accumulate and dominate entire weekends.
If you’re like most of us, you probably dealt with extensive decluttering and tough cleaning when you moved out of your former home. Who’s got time to go through it again? Especially in a new home? Not you, we bet!
Now’s a perfect time to implement a chore schedule for your household — who does what, and when. Make maintaining a clean new home, a team effort. And, if housecleaning’s not your jam, or it’s just you, or you and a spouse or partner, research a reputable local cleaning service and get on their schedule.
Keep the good scents going
You know that distinctive aroma of a new vehicle? One of the world’s best scents, right?
One you don’t have to worry about in your new custom Florida home is odd construction smells. Every ICI Homes build is an EQ Factor home, which means using environmentally sound products and rigorous construction techniques, among other features.
For example, paint will emit low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This means no weird smells. Any carpet has earned the “Green Label Plus” designation from the Carpet and Rug Institute because it’s made of 100 percent recycled fibers.
Do your part with all-natural-ingredient, plug-in air fresheners, candles, or diffusers.
Citrus is a good scent choice in Florida!
