It’s often said that everything in real estate boils down to “location, location, location,” but that can be awfully vague guidance if you are trying to figure out which master-planned community in Florida is right for you.
With all of the options available across the state, finding and choosing which community is the best fit for you can be a difficult task.
Here are some of the most important aspects of a community to consider:
General Appearance
Master-planned communities throughout Florida can have very different looks in terms of architecture style and general appearance.
Some communities have very limiting homeowners associations, and other communities allow residents more flexibility with their homes. As you drive through a community, you should note how you feel about the general appearance of the homes and ask yourself if that is what you envision your dream community looking like.
Affordability
There’s no getting around the importance of price in determining which community is right for you.
You almost certainly have a limit to the amount you can spend on a new home, and that limit will stretch further in some areas than it will in others. That means that you need to consider how much home you are going to be able to get for your budget in each community you look at.
Finding the perfect community will mean nothing if you can’t afford to buy a home there. At the same time, just because a home is affordable doesn’t mean that the community is the right fit for your family.
Safe Environment
You will want to remember to keep safety in mind when comparing Florida communities.
There are many sources of crime statistics online, but sometimes the best research comes from simply talking to people who are already living in the communities. They have first-hand knowledge of whether or not you will feel safe walking around the neighborhood at night.
Community Involvement
Another thing that you should talk to current residents about is how active they are in the community.
Does the community host regular events and activities? Are many of the residents involved in leading the community?
Communities where residents are more active and social are generally more friendly environments that make for a better quality of life. It also ensures that you will always have something fun to do on the weekends!
Strategic Planning
In addition to active residents, you also want to find a community that has strong leadership from the developer if it is still being built, or the HOA or similar group of residents if the development is complete.
There should be a plan in place for how the entire community will continue to develop and be maintained over the years.
Gut Feeling
After spending some time looking at a few different communities in Florida, you will likely develop a gut feeling about each of them.
It is probably not a good idea to make a decision on a community based exclusively on that feeling, but if something inside you is strongly urging you one way or the other, it might be a good idea to listen to your gut.
Regardless of what your head tells you about a community, you want your heart to be onboard too!
Finding the perfect Florida community for you is an enormous task because there are quite a few to pick from. They key is to iron out exactly what it is that you are looking for and then holding out until you find the perfect fit for your needs.
