Pantone Color of the Year 2020, ‘Classic Blue,’ A Florida Natural

Each December, the Pantone Color Institute selects a color that reflects current design, lifestyle, as well as other cultural barometers. This is known as the Pantone Color of the Year. It can be very influential in the design world! The 2020 selection is “Classic Blue,” and here’s the story behind it and why it’s a natural choice for Pantone Color of the Year 2020, ‘Classic Blue,’ A Florida Naturalyour Florida home design.

Most of us are aware of how color affects us in everyday life. We have favorite colors we wear, favorite colors of vehicles we drive, and more. And of course, we have favorite colors in our homes and furnishings.

Open your closet, then take a visual inventory of your clothing. Even if you usually favor neutrals, those gray, beige, black and white apparel items are colors too. And guess what — those blue jeans are called blue for a reason.

Taking a step further, we all know people who are deliberate about color. They decorate their leisure spaces in the colors of their favorite sports team. Maybe they even insist on a certain color of toothbrush. And, not only do we enjoy wearing and living with favorite colors, but certain colors can positively and negatively affect our moods and emotions.

Let’s think positive! That’s why we’re excited about the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020.

What’s the Pantone Color Institute?

It’s the consulting branch of the New-Jersey-based Pantone. Their color research and formulations have set global standards for accuracy and identification since its 1963 founding.

In a nutshell: Pantone’s color naming and numbering systems ensure that the shade of red chosen by a designer for a T-shirt logo, is the same shade of red used by the company printing that logo.

The Pantone system is used worldwide for fashion, home and industrial design, and more. For instance, the Pantone system creates the colors for cosmetics as well as those colorful water bottles at your favorite sporting goods store.

The Pantone Color Institute selected its first “Color of the Year” in 2000.
